Tokyo, Japan: Akira Toriyama the legendary creator of everyone’s beloved Dragon Ball series passed away on Friday at the age of 68, leaving behind a legacy of unforgettable characters and stories that be remembered by generations of fans worldwide.

Toriyama’s death has sent a shockwave throughout the anime and manga communities as well as countless fans who grew up watching Dragon Ball. Fans, artists, and fellow creators all expressed their gratitude for the joy and inspiration that Toriyama’s work has brought into their lives.

Reactions from Anime Community:

“We are deeply saddened to inform you that Manga creator Akira Toriyama passed away on March 1st due to acute subdural hematoma,” said a statement posted on the official X account of the “Dragon Ball” franchise.

“It’s our deep regret that he still had several works in the middle of creation with great enthusiasm,” the statement attributed to Toriyama’s Bird Studio said.

“He would have many more things to achieve. However, he has left many manga titles and works of art to this world,” it added.

“We hope that Akira Toriyama’s unique world of creation continues to be loved by everyone for a long time to come.”

Eiichiro Oda, the creator of Japan’s major “One Piece” manga franchise, said in a statement that Toriyama’s death was “too soon” and left “too big shoes to fill”.

“To think I’ll never see him again… I’m overwhelmed by sadness,” Oda said.

How Sir Akira Toriyama Started His Career?

Akira Toriyama was Born in Nagoya, Japan in 1955 and began his career as a manga artist in the late 1970s.

His early work was published in various magazines at that time before he created the Dragon Ball Series in 1984. The Dragon Ball Series quickly became a global success selling over 260 million copies worldwide.

After the success of the manga, Dragon Ball anime came out which was also a major success worldwide and Akira Toriyama was also a part of the creation team of the anime series.

Even though Goku obtains newer forms and becomes the most powerful being, he is still so childish in nature and cares for his loved ones and protects them at any cost even if it requires his own life that is why he is known to every manga and anime lover.

He has also created several other popular manga series including Dr. Slump and Dragon Quest and also designed characters for various video games.

His work has influenced many other artists and creators and his characters have become cultural icons across the world.

What was the Cause of his Death?

Acute Subdural Hematoma 

His death was confirmed on Friday by his own manga and design production studio and capsule corporation Tokyo which said in a statement that the causeway of death was an acute Subdural hematoma.

Subdural hematoma is a serious condition where blood collects between the skull and the surface of the brain.
